š§µš„ April Theme - Kimono Belt Remake Bags š§µš„ Calling all sewing enthusiasts, sustainability lovers, and fans of Japanese culture! This April, weāre hosting a special Sewing Gathering where weāll breathe new life into traditional Japanese kimono obi (belts) by turning them into stunning, functional bags. Whether youāre a seasoned sewist or a curious beginner, this is your chance to learn, create, and connect! ⨠About the Obi Belt The **obi** is a long, decorative sash worn with kimono, renowned for its intricate patterns, luxurious fabrics (like silk or brocade), and cultural significance. These belts are often heirlooms or vintage treasures, but as kimono traditions evolve, many obi are left unused. By repurposing them, we honor their beauty while embracing sustainable creativity! š What Weāll Do At this hands-on workshop, youāll: - Learn techniques to upcycle obi belts into unique bags (think clutches, totes, crossbody styles, and more!). - Discover the history and symbolism of obi designs. - Experiment with variationsāmix fabrics, add linings, or incorporate modern hardware for a personalized touch! - Connect with fellow makers who share a passion for sewing No sewing experience? No problem! Guidance, tools will be provided.
